Other Than Awesome
Will Hindmarch said the following about me on Twitter a few days back:
So @RyanMacklin is always awesome, but sometimes he feels things other than awesome. He should focus on the awesome.
I’ve been thinking on that a bit, on the “other than awesome.” Especially as I now there’s a decision in front of me that could be unpleasant as well, resulting in more forms of “other than awesome” I have to deal with.
I’ve realized that I’m no longer faking the confidence I throw around. I really am that guy who buys he can pull this life off. Doesn’t mean I don’t have a healthy amount of fear & doubt I have to deal with, though, in both my professional and person life. And some days, that’s all staring me in the face. Confidence is merely the counter-weight against what the fear and doubt would otherwise do to me.
Fuck, what fear and doubt have done to me for years, before I learned how to manage them. (Not that I’m at all done learning.)
There isn’t really any substance to this post. Or, if there it’s, it’s “I’m human.”
