Life of Mack Random thoughts & anecdotes from indie RPG nerd Ryan Macklin

I wrote this in IM a few minutes ago, to one of my friends that enjoys random initial story bits:

It is known that with God creates each man, he write the name of his truest love in his heart. As he does with each woman.

It is not as well known that God also writes the name of that soul’s utter antithesis, that soul’s nemesis, in each heart.

All magi know this, though, for with all magi, those two names are the same. That is Law. Which is why I find myself in bed with the woman who would, under normal circumstances, flay my flesh. Thankfully, I was armed with tequila.

Then I tweeted:

Working on Dresden Files RPG just hit me with a thought: what if Unknown Armies was Dirk Allen’s manuscript?

And now my head is on fire. If I ever make the Unknown Armies heartbreaker I’ve threatened to over the years, it will be in character voice.

I swore I’d never work on an in-voice game again. We’ll see what comes of this. But, for now, the dozen other projects I’m actually working on. This idea: shelved.
