Game Chef 2010, damnit!
We have another Game Chef coming up, and damn it if it hasn’t given me ideas. I don’t know if I’ll do anything, but this is what I just wrote in IM to a friend (edited a bit):
—
Imagine a city around an oasis, lavish and beautiful. A city of trade, many traveling each day braving the harsh desert surrounding it to trade and to be seen. A prosperous city-nation, its priests decided to rise against the Order of Things and make their own god.
And so, with the sacrafice of the Lord’s harem, his sons, and all the livestock in the royal gardens, this new god was forged. This newly birthed god, named for the city itself, loved its people from the first moment. And he blessed them. Blessed them with beautiful skin. All colors of the rainbow, of precious metals, of jewels and the night sky.
But the god of the desert, who had looked over this city and allowed it to be prosperous — as he loved them as his children, especially the most beautiful woman in the King’s harem — was scorned. That scorn flows through his followers, those wretchs of the sand that now covet the city-dwellers for their beautiful skin.
But that is only the beginning of the story of this Teardrop in the Sand.
